About EspressoSnob

We test espresso equipment the way you'd test it at home -- honestly, thoroughly, without agenda.

Our Mission

Good espresso at home is achievable. Great espresso is achievable. But there's a lot of bad information and a lot of equipment that looks good and performs poorly.

EspressoSnob exists to cut through the noise. We dig into the specs. We read hundreds of real user reviews. We cross-reference community feedback from r/espresso and HomeBarista forums. Then we tell you what's worth your money and what isn't.

We're opinionated, not gatekeeping. Budget options exist and they're good -- we'll tell you about them. But we won't pretend a $100 grinder does what a $400 grinder does. We'll tell you the truth.

Our Testing Methodology

What We Evaluate

Data We Collect

For each machine and grinder, we document: boiler type and volume, heating element specs, pump pressure, portafilter size, PID controls, warranty coverage, baseline cost, and user review trends across verified purchases on major retail sites.

What We Don't Do

We don't accept manufacturer sponsorships or "review units" that come with strings attached. We buy equipment at retail or used market prices, the same way you do. We don't rank gear we haven't personally evaluated. And we don't recommend equipment we wouldn't buy ourselves.

Affiliate Disclosure

EspressoSnob is reader-supported. When you click a link to Amazon or other retailers and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This commission doesn't influence our recommendations -- we recommend the same gear whether or not it's available as an affiliate link.

We use the Amazon Associates program with tag mindshift061-20.

If you'd prefer to buy directly without using our links, we completely understand. The equipment is the same either way.

Why EspressoSnob Exists

Most gear review sites are either manufacturing shills or hobby blogs. Manufacturers have budgets to sponsor sites, so those sites rank well. Hobby blogs are run by enthusiasts (which is great) but aren't systematic about evaluation.

We wanted a middle ground: a resource built by people who actually care about espresso, who test gear thoroughly, and who have zero interest in hyping mediocre products.

You spent money on your machine and grinder. You deserve honest information to spend it well.
